Trent Refractories attended The Institute of Refractories Engineers annual Conference and Training Day 2016 at Tankersley Manor, Church Lane, Tankersley, Barnsley in South Yorkshire. The Institute is a non-profit making body and the entire income and property of the Institute is applied towards the promotion of its objectives.

The Institute of Refractories Engineers Conference and Training Day 2016 included a full session Heat Flow and Thermal Expansion Refractory materials are used to provide containment for high temperature processes. An understanding of how heat flows through a refractory lining and the thermal expansion of the refractory lining is critical to safe and effective design and operation of process plant. This course will provide a working knowledge of the calculation of thermal gradients and thermal expansion a allowances and is aimed at personnel who design linings and select and specify materials of construction.
