British Steel To Create 180 New Jobs Amid Production Expansion

secured the raw materials necessary to operate both of its blast furnaces and is set to significantly boost iron and steel output in the coming months. The majority of these positions will be located near the Trent Refractories manufacturing facility in Scunthorpe.
To support this expansion and the company’s commitment to a sustainable future, British Steel is hiring across a wide range of roles at its sites in Scunthorpe, Teesside, and Skinningrove. Positions span multiple disciplines, including engineering, environmental science, chemistry, cleaning, law, labouring, safety, and supply chain. Interim Chief Executive Officer Allan Bell commented:
“With the support of the UK Government, we’re focused on establishing British Steel as a global leader in steel manufacturing. To meet rising customer demand, we’re increasing production at all our sites and recruiting over 180 new team members to help drive our business forward.
“These are exciting roles offering rewarding careers that will contribute to a stronger future for both British Steel and the UK economy.”Of the new positions, 165 will be based in Scunthorpe, with the remaining 17 located at the company’s Teesside and Skinningrove facilities. Current vacancies include:
- Electrical and mechanical engineering roles
- Business support functions such as legal, commercial, and occupational health
- Entry-level shift manufacturing operators (training provided)
- Electrical, mechanical, and structural craft roles (day and shift work)
- Technical and managerial roles in manufacturing
Additional opportunities are also available in fields such as welding, nursing, and customer service.
