Living Wage Increased Across The UK To £9.50 Per Hour

Trent Refractories support the real Living Wage campaign across the UK which in November 2020 has increased to £9.50 per hour. The scheme is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by nearly 7,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs; the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist. Employers voluntarily pay the real Living Wage which is above the national legal minimum rate. As well as being good for society, there are significant business benefits to paying the real Living Wage.
The rates for 2020/21 were announced on Monday 9th November 2020. Member employers will implement the rise as soon as possible. The Living Wage Foundation grew out of the Living Wage Campaign which originated in London. The campaign was launched in 2001 by members of London Citizens, a community organisation which subsequently developed into the nationwide community organising institution Citizens UK. The Living Wage Campaign called for every worker in the country to earn enough to provide their family with the essentials of life.
