Trent Refractories CEO Katy Moss gave a speech at the Make UK Manufacturing Expo Conference at Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield today. The subject focused on foundation industries and the importance of the UK supply chain, refractory producers and how they underpin the foundation industries, specifically the steel industry.
Stephen Phipson CBE of Make UK, has opened the day with some clear positive statics from the manufacturing sector, thanks to the efforts of UK manufacturers. Stephen went on to say “The sector accounts for £220 billion output, providing 2.6 million jobs, paying on average 8% higher than the whole economy.”
