Trent Refractories Represented At UNITECR 2025 In Mexico

Trent Refractories CEO Katy Moss visited the internationally renowned UNITECR conference for the 2025 edition in Cancun Mexico. The theme for UNITECR 2025 is: Sustainability Meets Intelligence - Shaping the Future of Refractories. This reflects a push to integrate digitalisation, AI/ML, smart systems with sustainable practices, recycling, efficiency, and green technologies in refractory materials and their applications. The event was a showcase for global refractory innovation and networking with many members of the supply chain in attendance.

What is UNITECR?

• UNITECR stands for Unified International Technical Conference on Refractories
• It is a biennial (every two years) international conference focused on the science, engineering, application, and industry of refractory materials (i.e. materials that can withstand high temperature, corrosive, or otherwise extreme environments)
• Over time, UNITECR has become one of the main forums for exchanging research, industrial developments, and best practices in the refractory / high-temperature materials community.
• Historically, the first UNITECR was held in 1987 in Tokyo, and since then it has rotated among different host regions and organisations.
• Raw materials and use of recycled materials
• Monolithic refractories and shaped products
• Applications in iron, steel, non-ferrous and metallurgy
• Modeling, simulation, digital tools
• Standards, technology transfer, education
• Lifecycle, maintenance, sustainability, circular economy 

The next UNITECR after 2025 will be UNITECR 2027. By tradition, the conference rotates among the four major regional organisers:

• ACerS (Americas / USA)
• GRA (Europe / Germany)
• TARJ (Japan / Asia)
• ALAFAR (Latin America)

Since UNITECR 2025 is hosted by ALAFAR in Cancun, Mexico, the 2027 edition will almost certainly be hosted by one of the Asian or European member organisations. However, the official host city and venue for UNITECR 2027 have not yet been formally announced as of now (November 2025). The decision is typically confirmed during or shortly after the 2025 conference in Cancun. cast and perform like our EAF Deltas.
